Rather than trying to stretch a 3-minute sketch into an unwatchable feature film, the latest Saturday Night Live spin-off is stretched into an ice cream flavor. Originally meant to poke fun at NPR, Schweddy Balls quickly became one of the most popular SNL sketches of all time — and now it’s a Ben & Jerry’s flavor. Use a heavy scoop to help cut through the double entendre.
Update: A statement from Pete Schweddy himself, the immortal Alec Baldwin…
“For a long time, I thought that ‘Here Lies Pete Schweddy’ would end up on my tombstone. Now, thanks to Ben & Jerry’s, the goodness of the Schweddy family recipe won’t go with me to the great beyond. It is immortalized here, right now, and it’s an ice cream. Ben & Jerry’s and Schweddy. Two great names in American dessert, together at last.”
Just in time for National Ice Cream Month, Del Monte Iced Refreshments has inexplicably launched a popsicle in the likeness of former Baywatch star and resident douche David Hasselhoff.
Naturally titled the “Hoffsicle,” it’s available in raspberry flavor, and is unsurprisingly rendered bare-chested, collar-up. Hopefully they enjoy ice lollies in Germany.
Sparky’s Homemade Ice Cream in Columbia, Missouri recently silenced a few cicadas by including them in a new ice cream flavor. The loud, swarming little buggers that show up every 13 years to annoy everyone, were gathered by store employees to be included in the limited edition Cicada Ice Cream.
