Inedible Recipes, A Cookbook of Delicious Food Art

20140116112005-cover

Cookbooks… They’re always filled with such delicious recipes, you know, the kind you can actually eat. But what if there was a book that contained recipes of deliciously inedible food?

Inedible Recipes, by artist Crystal Smith, explores the concept of filling a cookbook with food no longer fit for consumption. The series of food art, which uses various forms of media added to food, could be described as an artbook, photobook and cookbook all in one — as Smith does in fact supply the “recipes” for each piece.

Inedible Recipes is currently an Indiegogo project. You can visit Crystal’s page and help this project become a reality here.

How To Make Complete Meals With Your Coffee Maker

sdfsd_custom

Is every cooking vessel in your kitchen broken, except the Mr. Coffee? Well, you’re in luck. Thanks to Cooking With Your Coffee Machine, you can now cook full meals in your coffee maker.

Jody Anderson, a retired photographer in southern Oregon, is working on a cookbook of coffee maker meals. The idea came from her nephew, who complained of meals while stationed in Afghanistan, but mentioned having a coffee maker in his room… Problem solved.

Little did we know, that besides dispensing our go-go juice in the morning, our Mr. Coffee is actually a triple threat in the kitchen — capable of steaming, poaching, and grilling/sauteing.

A Unicorn Recipe From A Medieval Cookbook

unicorn-recipe

Real world problem… You have so much unicorn, but you’re just not sure what to do with it. A Fourteenth Century English cookbook by Geoffrey Fule was recently discovered, and is here to help. Fule was a royal cook himself, so he knows his unicorn.

Fule suggests marinating the majestic beast in cloves and garlic, then roasting it on a griddle. Save the horn, just in case you’d like to make some unicorn stock.*

Nachos… The ultimate bar snack, hangover stopper, and a great excuse to melt some cheese. Our friends Lee Frank and Rachel Anderson over at Nachos NY have dedicated quite a bit of their lives to the gooey snack, and have recently converted their passion into book form.

The best news… Nachos NY and Foodiggity have teamed up to give away two copies of Ultimate Nachos. The rules are simple… Head over to our post on Foodiggity’s Facebook page and let us know how you like your nachos and what guacamole means to you. Bonus points if you’re actually eating nachos and post a pic. Two winners will be chosen by an esteemed panel of judges that specialize in scrutinizing internet comments.*

So, head over to Facebook and tell us how you do nachos… There are no wrong answers. Unless you tell us that you don’t like nachos — in which case you’re dead wrong and we feel sorry for you.
