Adidas Sneakers Designed By Female Artists For Each of The 50 U.S. States

Food and footwear, together again. This time, Adidas and Refinery 29 brought the two together, while celebrating women and the 50 U.S. States.

The BOOST the Nation campaign is an art series for women, by women. Female artists were commissioned to design an Adidas UltraBOOST X that captures the essence of a U.S. State. Although all 50 don’t use food as inspiration, many of them celebrate the states’s rich culinary history, with food as the uniting factor.

All 50 are up for auction here. Proceeds will go to support Women Win — the global leader in gender equality though sport.

Seriously, Look at This Avocado Carving

Italian artist, Daniele Barresi, creates fruit and vegetable masterpieces. One of his latest works is a race against time, with a beautiful avocado carving that took about one hour.

The avocado pit, which is often a nuisance, becomes the centerpiece of the intricate fruit art. Barresi works with various types of fruits and vegetables, and sometimes soap. See more below and over on Instagram.

Polluted Water Popsicles Are No Treat

To draw attention to Taiwan’s water pollution issues, art students Hung I-chen, Guo Yi-hui, and Cheng Yu-ti created Polluted Water Popsicles.

Although the sight of a popsicle stick makes people want a tasty frozen treat, these are not meant to be eaten. The polluted popsicles were made after the students collected actual water samples throughout Taiwan.

The dirty water was then preserved in resin, along with anything that was floating around in there — including bottle caps, wrappers and other random garbage. Yuck-sicle!
