Adidas Sneakers Designed By Female Artists For Each of The 50 U.S. States

July 10, 2017 by Chris Durso

New Jersey Pizza, by Jen Mussari

Food and footwear, together again. This time, Adidas and Refinery 29 brought the two together, while celebrating women and the 50 U.S. States.

The BOOST the Nation campaign is an art series for women, by women. Female artists were commissioned to design an Adidas UltraBOOST X that captures the essence of a U.S. State. Although all 50 don’t use food as inspiration, many of them celebrate the states’s rich culinary history, with food as the uniting factor.

All 50 are up for auction here. Proceeds will go to support Women Win — the global leader in gender equality though sport.

The Foodnited States Of America, A Pun-Fueled Series of US States Made From Food

July 14, 2014 by Chris Durso

FOODNITED-STATES-HEADER

Foodnited States T-shirts are now available here. The Foodnited States of America Poster, including all 50 States, is now available here.

In addition to being the creator of Foodiggity.com, I’m also the father of an eight-year-old. And, when most of the material covered on your site could best be described as ‘juvenile food-related nonsense,’ a curious youngster is gonna wanna get involved.

It began innocently enough with, “Dad… What if you made States, but like, they were made of food, like?” My response was something along the lines of, “That’s been done to death already, son… Go to bed.” Then, the heir to the Foodiggity empire added, “But what if they like had funny names like New Pork or New Jerky, like?” Now, we were on to something.

So, with an idea set forth by an eight year-old, and contributions from Dad and others, we give you The Foodnited States of America.

The project is based over at Instagram, hashtag #foodnitedstates. All fifty States are now complete, check them out over at Instagram or at Foodiggity’s Facebook page here. F-S-A!! F-S-A!!

The United Steaks of America, An Interactive Map of Each US States’ Official Meat

March 11, 2014 by Chris Durso

united-steaks-of-america

It’s no secret that ‘Merica loves its meat. So… Why do only four States in the Union — Louisiana, Maryland, Oklahoma, and Texas — claim an animal-based food item as their official State fare?

L.V. Anderson over at Slate looks to fix this atrocious oversight, with The United Steaks of America. The interactive map shows an awesome and complete disregard for “official” State foods — placing in its stead, an unofficial meat for each.

Check it out, and see if they got your States’ meat-of-choice correct. Foodiggity, based in New Jersey, would argue that Taylor Ham should be our State meat. South Jerseyans can then argue that it should be “Pork Roll.” Nonetheless… Check out the fully-operational map here.

The Fifty United Plates, Porcelain Trays In The Shape of Every US State

July 29, 2013 by Chris Durso

We’ve seen skillets and cutting boards in the shape of every US State. Now, you can show your patriotism at the table with The Fifty United Plates. Brought to us by ceramic artists Ryan and Kaitlyn Lawless of Corbé company, the project is currently in a Kickstarter phase that has already reached their target.

So expect to see the state plates available soon. You can start making Oregon-shaped pies and California casseroles. Get Rhode Island if you need to hold a few grains of rice or a small blueberry.
