The Edible Spoon

Plastic spoons… They’re used quickly, then discarded, only to spend the next several decades trying to decompose in some landfill. The Edible Spoon is here to help, with a neat little scooping utensil that’s 100% biodegradable and 100% edible.

Brought to us by Triangle Tree, the spoons are made mostly of organic corn and flour, and available in three flavors: Plain, Spicy and Sweet. Great… But there’s a missed opportunity here to save some forks. Bring on the edible sporks!

Spoon Plus Chopsticks

Utensil hybrids appear to be all the rage lately, and it’s no longer limited to some odd commingling of the knife, fork and spoon. After chopsticks got in on the act with the Kung Foon, the latest hybrid that we could find has them joining forces with the spoon. Enter the spoonplus.

But more than just the pinching abilities of chopsticks mixed with the scooping properties of a standard spoon — the spoon part detaches to become an instant dipping tray. Now we just need chopsticks mixed with a knife and spork, and we’ll consider this matter closed.

The Knork, a Combination Knife and Fork

The unnecessary merging of kitchen utensils continues. This time, the fork has dumped the spoon and has become one with the knife. Enter the Knork, which just might give the spork a run for its money as the ultimate franken-utensil and kitchen portmanteau.

The Knork has the standard food-stabbing feature of your average fork, with an added beveled ‘knife’ edge. It allows for the easy cutting of foods, but keeps from slicing your mouth open while eating. It’s like magic, but it’s really just a more efficient fork with a cooler name. Enjoy.
