The Chork Is Our New Favorite Utensil Portmanteau

chork

Although we have a special place in our heart for the lovable hybrid that is the spork, there’s a new utensil mash-up in town. It’s far from a new concept, but the chopsticks/fork combo, known as the Chork, may finally be going mainstream.

Panda Express appears ready to adopt the Chork as a to-go utensil option. So, chopstick-challenged food court-dwellers can still enjoy their Chinese-American fast food the way it was intended — with a half-assed attempt to use chopsticks, followed by shoveling food into their face via plastic fork. Only now more convenient.

A Pair of Chopsticks That Fit Together Perfectly

rassen01_akihiro_yoshida

The days of attempting to separate take-out chopsticks, only to get an uneven break or to ruin them altogether, may soon be over. Japanese design firm Nendo has come up with an innovative and space-saving design for a pair of chopsticks that fit perfectly together.

When nested, the two chopsticks appear to be one. Then, when separated, they can be used to go to town on some take-out.

Soup Sticks: Finally, Chopsticks and Straws In One

SONY DSC

The last remaining broth in your ramen bowl can be tricky. Do you slurp right from the bowl, and show a lack of self-respect and awareness of others?

Or, thanks to Soup Sticks, do you leave the bowl where it is and suck that broth up with a straw? Again, self-respect and consideration for others, not a top priority. Brought to us by Julian Lechner, the part chopsticks part straw concept can handle noodles with ease. And, thanks to being hollow and fitted with the appropriate airholes, will handle the liquids too.

Happy slurping.
