The Chork Is Our New Favorite Utensil Portmanteau

August 12, 2016 by Chris Durso

chork

Although we have a special place in our heart for the lovable hybrid that is the spork, there’s a new utensil mash-up in town. It’s far from a new concept, but the chopsticks/fork combo, known as the Chork, may finally be going mainstream.

Panda Express appears ready to adopt the Chork as a to-go utensil option. So, chopstick-challenged food court-dwellers can still enjoy their Chinese-American fast food the way it was intended — with a half-assed attempt to use chopsticks, followed by shoveling food into their face via plastic fork. Only now more convenient.

And BREAKING: @PandaExpress is considering a move toward the “chork,” or the chopsticks/fork pic.twitter.com/s1hOQhxWKT

The Edible Spoon Maker Is A Game Changer

Say goodbye to metal and inedible eating utensils… The Edible Spoon Maker is on the way.

The electronic device is capable of making four delicious food-scoopers, with almost any type of dough you can think of. No more fumbling through your utensil drawer for a yogurt spoon, or having to find a clean spoon in the dishwasher.

Simply cook up a few spoons, use them for all of your food-shoveling needs, and then consume that too. The most exciting part, is that we are now one step closer to an edible spork. Now, we wait.

The Spork Gets An Unnecessary Upgrade With The Tritensil

August 11, 2015 by Chris Durso

The spork, already a wonder of engineering and portmanteaus, always leaves room for improvement. Part spoon, part fork, all awesome… the multi-utensil flirts with perfection while polarizing the take-out community.

London-based design firm, Maps, wants to improve on perfection, with the Tritensil. Actually inspired by a combination spoon, fork, and knife — the utensil is designed to fulfill all of your scooping, poking and cutting needs.

The Tritensil is available from Fortnum & Mason — the company originally credited for the spoon/fork/knife combo. It’s also available in bio-plastic or stainless steel, and left and right versions for sporking from both sides.

Real world problem… You’re in the middle of your meal, and you need to open another beer. Sure, you could stop what you’re doing and find the bottle opener, but that would just cut into your eating time.

Brew Cutlery is here to help, with a set of cutlery that includes a handy bottle opener on the end. Whether you’re in the middle of scooping, impaling or cutting your food — you only have to flip your cutlery around to pop open a beer. Problem solved.

The utensils are a minimalist design of 18/10 stainless steel. Currently in Kickstarter mode, you can visit the site and check it out.
