Junk Food Plated To Look Like Gourmet Meals

Although most junk food doesn’t need anything more than garish packaging and a shiny sugar-coating to appeal to our eyes — there are ways to make it seem more sophisticated.

Chef Jacques Lamerde, using master plating skills, takes some of our favorite sugary and salty items, and makes them appear gourmet.

He even applies fancy menu-naming techniques to the plates of Hot Pockets, Pop-Tarts and Munchkins, to help complete the culinary ruse. See more below and over at his Instagram.

Watch Pop-Tarts Being Filled, Folded and Pressed Forever

pop-tart

Finally… An infinite GIF that we wouldn’t mind watching until the sun burns out. Provided by Reddit, the looped animation brings us up close and personal to the process of making Pop-Tarts.

Just try to look away from the application of the jam-like substance into its dough envelope — where it’s then folded and pressed. Did we mention that you can watch this process forever?

Unfortunately we don’t get to see the best part, which is the sugar coating and sprinkles. Perhaps these are just the hell-spawn unfrosted version.

Quick update: This may or may not be a video of actual Pop-Tarts — but rather the far inferior, but no-less hypnotic Smuckers Uncrustables. We’ll keep you posted on this as we learn more. Try to get on with your day in the meantime.

Behold The Pop-Tart Ice Cream Sandwich

CKE-874_TST-POPTART-WC.ai

Sure, some of us have already had the idea of sandwiching ice cream between two Pop-Tarts… Only we were too drunk and/or stoned to remember constructing one. But someone at Carl’s Jr., presumably sober, has officially presented the Pop-Tart Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Pop-Tart/ice cream concoction is currently being tested at least one location in Newport Beach, California. What’s to test? It’s Pop-Tarts and ice cream… You pass!
