America loves its chains. Especially when that chain involves burgers, drive-thrus, or anything else that gets us something to consume as quickly as possible. But did you ever wonder where each American restaurant chain originated from?

Red, White & Food answers that burning question, reminding us of that place we’ve probably visited all too often. Did they get yours right?

The Fast Food Purse Is Here To Help

fast-food-purse

Real world problem… Having to carry a fast food bag in one hand and your oversized beverage in the other. Simple math tells us that we’re then officially out of hands. Solution… Evolution could eventually grant us a third hand, specifically designed to hold a smartphone, or we could develop something like The Fast Food Purse.

Designed by student Seulbi Kim, the food tote will help contain all of your fast food items, including your drink. Now you can get back to using your free hand to do more important things — perhaps to check-in to McDonald’s, or to tell all of your friends how you’re about to ‘devour a Whopper.’

Behold The Pop-Tart Ice Cream Sandwich

CKE-874_TST-POPTART-WC.ai

Sure, some of us have already had the idea of sandwiching ice cream between two Pop-Tarts… Only we were too drunk and/or stoned to remember constructing one. But someone at Carl’s Jr., presumably sober, has officially presented the Pop-Tart Ice Cream Sandwich.

The Pop-Tart/ice cream concoction is currently being tested at least one location in Newport Beach, California. What’s to test? It’s Pop-Tarts and ice cream… You pass!

The First McDonald’s Big Mac Ad

introducing-the-big-mac-in-1969

The year was 1969, a time of free love and “special sauce” naivete. And then, along came the McDonald’s Big Mac. Seen here in its first official print advertisement, McDonald’s signature sandwich was originally touted as, “A meal disguised as a sandwich,” inadvertently becoming a ground-breaker for future fast food abominations and other extreme food. In a way it also paved the way for food humor sites that cover such drivel. Thanks, Big Mac!!

Cheeseburger Wine Is Disappointingly Not Cheeseburger-Flavored

cheeseburger-red-wine

If that Pinot you chose didn’t complement the char and meaty goodness of your double cheeseburger, there’s now a wine by Rootstock Cellars that should help. Cheeseburger Red is actually designed to pair perfectly with your burger. Grab a bottle to bring to your next barbecue, or for the perfect date night to In-N-Out.
