The World’s Most Expensive Potato Chip

October 18, 2016 by Chris Durso 3 Comments

Get your hand out of the Pringles tin… There’s a new potato chip worthy of your discernible palate. Although it will cost you.

Swedish beer-makers, St. Erik’s Brewery, has created what is the world’s most expensive potato chip to go with their high-quality craft beer. The price tag for such crispy luxury is 499.00 kr, approximately $56 USD per box, or roughly $11 per chip.

The ingredients that help jack up the price of these chips include; Matsutake, Truffle Seaweed, Leksand Onion, Crown Dill and Nordic Ammarnäs Potatoes. Unfortunately, the limited edition chips are currently sold out. Time to reach into the Pringles tin again.

The Pizza Koozie Is Here To Help

“What a fucking time to be alive,” explains The Vulgar Chef, Kyle Marcoux… right before he proves it with the Pizza Koozie.

No longer will we have to protect our beverages with boring cloth or foam koozies that aren’t pizzas. Marcoux shows us how, by wrapping dough, pepperoni and cheese around a can of PBR, and sticking it in the oven.

The result… pizza and beer, no slicing or empty pizza boxes necessary. What a fucking time to be alive, indeed.

This Beer Mug Solves A Real World Problem We Didn’t Know We Had

There are few things more American than sitting on the couch and drinking a beer while watching television. But those pesky round beer mugs obstruct our vision.

The TV Beer Mug is here to help. The one-pint beer mug features a sloped edge that, when held to your face, opens up your field of vision. So, beer-drinkers will no longer have to wait for commercials, or miss any important parts of their show because there was a stupid round mug in their face.

Pork Roll Beer Exists

September 1, 2016 by Chris Durso 1 Comment

For those not from New Jersey, I’ll break it down for you… New Jersey’s greatest contribution to America’s culinary landscape is a large tubular vessel of mystery meat. And, whether it’s called Taylor Ham or Pork Roll, depends on whether you reside in North or South Jersey.

Flying Fish Brewing Co. thought they’d show some State pride and, since their headquarters are south of the Raritan Bridge, created something called Pork Roll Porter. The 7.5% ABV brew is part of Flying Fish’s “Exit” series, in which a beer will pay tribute to an exit number off the New Jersey Turnpike… again, a Jersey thing.

Actual pork roll/taylor ham is used in the brew process to create aromas of cocoa and hints of chocolate, maple, toasted nuts and spice. It sounds like it would pair perfectly with a Taylor ham, egg and cheese on a roll… salt, pepper, ketchup. Sorry, Northerner here.

Star Trek Beer Goes Where No Ale Has Gone Before

July 25, 2016 by Chris Durso Leave a Comment

To help celebrate the 50th Anniversary of Star Trek, Shmaltz Brewing Company has released two Star Trek Anniversary Ales.

First up is “The Trouble With Tribbles,” a reference to an original Star Trek episode:

“Light Carastan malt gives some residual sweetness in the form of very light toffee. A dose of Munich adds a slight bready quality, and wheat malt lends to a slight crisp character. Mashing at a moderate temperature gives this beer a medium body. In keeping with the intergalactic theme, hopping is comprised of Comet, Polaris, Aurora and Admiral (Kirk) hops. This beer is only loosely filtered to clarity, in order to preserve the ambiguity of good and evil.”

Also, “The Voyage to the Northeast Quadrant,” described here:

“…harnesses a crisp, clean malt character showcased by the use of light Munich malts and brewer’s maze. The aroma is accented by fresh citrus fruits such as lemon and lime with subtle notes of white wine. The crisp malts and fruity aromas are elevated by maintaining a mild bitterness allowing each selected ingredient to offer its individual qualities without being overshadowed by any single ingredient.”

Star Trek Golden Anniversary Ale: The Trouble With Tribbles made its debut at San Diego Comic-Con, and will later appear for sale in the San Diego area. Star Trek Golden Anniversary Ale: Voyage to the Northeast Quadrant will appear at “Mission New York” at the Javits Center from September 2 – 4, 2016.
