Chanel Purse Made From Beef Jerky

May 25, 2011 by Chris Durso

The Chanel Meat Purse, aptly titled ‘100% Beef Jerky’, is brought to us by Nancy Wu. A student at the Art Center College of Design in Pasadena, California, Wu sewed together sheets of beef jerky to create what she describes as a ‘lo-fi’ item.

The Big Lebowski Coasters

May 24, 2011 by Chris Durso

Finally, a suitable spot for your White Russian. The Big Lebowski Coasters are available at the Etsy store, sport 10 different images from the movie, and are letterpress printed by hand.

And, if you’re not into the whole brevity thing, there are some memorable quotes on the flip side. None more appropriate than, “Careful man, there’s a beverage here.” As if The Dude said it with eventual coasters in mind.

Garlic Is For Heroes

May 24, 2011 by Chris Durso

Garlic Is For Heroes is brought to us by Etsy user dwitt75. The limited edition 8×10 print features the artist’s illustrations, accompanied by a very old (and true) proverb. The ‘hero’ part is especially true if you slay vampires.

The World’s Most Expensive Jelly Beans

May 24, 2011 by Chris Durso

Inventor of Jelly Belly and ‘candy mogul’, David Klein, will soon be unleashing the world’s most expensive jelly beans, ‘Beyond Gourmet’.

Said to be inspired by food deconstruction masters such as Jose Andreas and Ferran Adria of El Bulli, Beyond Gourmet will be sold in crystal jars, and hopes to create the experience of haute cuisine. Once the taster penetrates the superfluous layer of gold leaf, the sugar beans will attempt to mimic the flavor of Thai Lemongrass Curry, Indian Mango Chutney, and other exotic dishes.

In case you were wondering, the synthetic experience of a dish that would normally run $4.95, a jar of Beyond Gourmets will cost $500.

President Obama in Ireland, Stops Off for a Pint of Guinness

May 23, 2011 by Chris Durso

While recently in Ireland, President Obama took a break to do what any American tourist would — stop off for a pint of Guinness. After recently admitting to a distant Irish ancestry, Obama visited Ollie’s Bar in Moneygall — the small Irish village where his great-great-great grandfather once lived and worked as a shoemaker.

Not wanting to ‘mess it up’, the President showed extreme patience while waiting for the pint to properly settle. Also, in staying true to his newfound Irish ancestry, Obama was later seen picking a fight in the parking lot.*
