The World’s Most Expensive Jelly Beans

May 24, 2011 by Chris Durso

Inventor of Jelly Belly and ‘candy mogul’, David Klein, will soon be unleashing the world’s most expensive jelly beans, ‘Beyond Gourmet’.

Said to be inspired by food deconstruction masters such as Jose Andreas and Ferran Adria of El Bulli, Beyond Gourmet will be sold in crystal jars, and hopes to create the experience of haute cuisine. Once the taster penetrates the superfluous layer of gold leaf, the sugar beans will attempt to mimic the flavor of Thai Lemongrass Curry, Indian Mango Chutney, and other exotic dishes.

In case you were wondering, the synthetic experience of a dish that would normally run $4.95, a jar of Beyond Gourmets will cost $500.
