The Art Toast Project gives boring toasted bread a much-needed upgrade. Brought to us by Norwegian artist Ida Skivenes — famous works by Monet, Van Gogh, Pollock and others are recreated using various food items with toast as the canvas.

Isn’t it great when long-haired iconoclasts appear on food? Music legend Willie Nelson recently showed up on 352 slices of toast, thanks to Honey Thompson, a team leader at Whole Foods. The portrait was created to help promote the launch of Dark Rye, the store’s new online magazine, and is on display at SXSW in Austin, TX.

The problem with regular flat toast, is that it’s not V-shaped. Therefore, it can’t be easily folded into an awesome half-sandwich, and doesn’t include a very necessary Y-shaped spreader.

Sure, the Hue Smart Toaster can’t give you a weather report, and isn’t Domo — but it will allow you to toast your bread to the color of your liking. So, instead of your current toaster’s settings of ‘barely toasted’, ‘pre-burnt’, and ‘burnt’ — once you find your toast color of choice, Hue will get it right every time.
Unfortunately, for you and your toast, Hue is still only in concept phase. So, you’ll just have to keep leaving your toaster on ‘4’ and hope for the best.

Jamy, a toaster concept, is designed to print your morning forecast on your toast. Created by designer Nathan Brunstein, the smart toaster is equipped with a built-in barometer and thermometer — that will help those who prefer their weather report in the morning, and hate looking out the window.
However, since your new weather predictor is a toaster, expect the occasional forecast of ‘burnt.’
