Pantone Food by Alison Anselot

February 1, 2013 by Chris Durso

Most foods are distinguishable by their organic colors and tones. But what if those naturally occurring colors were industrialized with the use of a digital color matching system? Artist Alison Anselot created Pantone Food — a photography series that matches the color of foods to its corresponding Pantone swatch.

Whether it’s a bowl of sliced strawberries, brownies, flan, or a plate of PMS 877 — Anselot not only finds the perfect color match for these monochromatic foods, but in the process creates beautifully-styled and hunger-inducing images.

Dinner Table Portrait Made With Placed Objects

August 15, 2012 by Chris Durso

Brought to us by Mexican design studio Golpeavisa, is a portrait of Danish chef René Redzepi. The portrait, created for the August cover of Clase Premier magazine, consists of placed objects on a dinner table, and depicts Redzepi in stoic fashion.

And, if you’re wondering how you get immortalized as a table setting — Redzepi’s restaurant, Noma, has repeatedly been named the best restaurant in the world. That’s how.

The Meals of Olympic Athletes Recreated in Photo Series

July 31, 2012 by Chris Durso

Female 100m Sprinter

Olympic athletes might look and feel better than you do — but according to this photo series by stylist Sarah Parker and photographer Michael Bodiam, they probably don’t eat better. The series shows a typical meal for athletes, as suggested by Olympian nutritionist Dan Benardot, recreated with its components meticulously separated and arranged.

Although servings usually exceed two thousand calories — the “food for fuel” regimen keeps the meals pretty strict and relatively bland. So, enjoy your burgers and nachos tonight while you watch our athletes burning off all of that dry toast, and whatever that green stuff is.
