The last time we visited competitive eater Furious Pete, he was trying to ruin Nutella for us. Now, he’s showing some Olympic spirit by ingesting swimmer Michael Phelps’ entire daily diet in one sitting.
Now if only competitive eating can become an Olympic event. Perhaps it could replace trampolining, or ping pong.
Olympic athletes might look and feel better than you do — but according to this photo series by stylist Sarah Parker and photographer Michael Bodiam, they probably don’t eat better. The series shows a typical meal for athletes, as suggested by Olympian nutritionist Dan Benardot, recreated with its components meticulously separated and arranged.
Although servings usually exceed two thousand calories — the “food for fuel” regimen keeps the meals pretty strict and relatively bland. So, enjoy your burgers and nachos tonight while you watch our athletes burning off all of that dry toast, and whatever that green stuff is.
