A Convenience Store Filled Entirely With Handmade Felt Products Opened In Manhattan

Imagine, in the middle of a city made mostly of concrete and steel, a convenience store is filled with the softest and cuddliest items available.

Artist, Lucy Sparrow, made this a reality with 8 ‘Til Late — a bodega filled with handmade felt products. Placed at The Standard, High Line in New York City, everyday products — such as cereal, condiments and Astroglide — are reimagined and stocked on shelves and in deli counters.

Due to overwhelming popularity, the store sold out of everything and closed ahead of schedule. The good news is that some of Lucy’s felt products are available for sale online.

Black Ice Cream Is For Those Hot Gothic Days

black-ice-cream

When you’re feeling a little less vanilla and wanna be metal AF, there’s now Black Ice Cream.

Brought to us by Morgenstern’s in New York City, the goth-ice cream is “Coconut Ash” flavor, with its distinct color made possible with activated charcoal.

Get a double scoop with vanilla for some cone-harmony… although it’ll be a little less metal.

NYC Squirrel Steals Milkshake and Pizza Rat’s Thunder

Move over, Pizza Rat… There’s a new city-rodent stealing our food and our hearts.

Milkshake Squirrel can clearly be seen lifting a Shake Shack milkshake from the garbage. The flavor of the shake is still under debate, but judging by Milkshake Squirrel’s enthusiasm, it’s probably a Black and White. They are pretty awesome.

Nutellasagna Exists and We Are Not Worthy

nutellasagna

We don’t know what’s in the Nutellasagna and, frankly, we don’t care… we’d just like this in our belly as soon as possible.

But, if you’re into details… the Nutellasagna is brought to us by Robicelli’s in Bay Ridge, NYC. It consists of layers of lasagna noodles, cannoli custard, copious amounts of Nutella, crushed roasted hazelnuts and chopped chocolate, with some marshmallows on top for additional sweetness.

Great… in belly… now.

Juice Exhibit Pokes Fun At Contemporary Lifestyles

kline

As if eight-dollar, Helvetica-laden bottles of juice weren’t easy enough to make fun of, artist Josh Kline has taken it a step further.

Officially-titled Skittles, Kline’s art installation is an industrial refrigerator stocked with juice bottles. But rather than ingredients that are macro, organic, and the such — these bottles are a commentary on contemporary lifestyles.

A bottle of Nightlife, for instance, contains Coke Zero, octopus ink, Raid, Davidoff Cool Water, and bath salts. Based in Manhattan, there’s also some shade to be thrown at Brooklyn, with Williamsburg Juice containing credit card, American Apparel, kale chips, kombucha, microbrew, quinoa, and agave.

Skittles was part of Archeo outdoor exhibit, appearing at the High Line in Manhattan.

“Each smoothie stands as a portrait of a different contemporary lifestyle. When grouped together, they evoke a landscape of aspiration, taste, and – at times – deprivation in a metropolis like New York City.”
