Planet Drinking Glasses Will Help You Drink Out of Uranus

November 26, 2014 by Chris Durso

Are you an astronomer or astronaut? Or, perhaps you’d really just like to drink out of Uranus? Well, The Planetary Glass Set will have you imbibing like a true space enthusiast.

The set of 10 glasses even includes the Sun [we assume for hot drinks] and the former planet of Pluto, made into a smaller shot glass. Bottoms up, astronaut.

The Earth Burger Is Out of This World

August 21, 2014 by Chris Durso

Nothing good can come from any blue food. That is unless that blue food is a cereal endorsed by a cartoon ghost, or it’s paying homage to our home planet.

At Japanese science museum, Orbi Yokohama, they’re serving up burgers and sandwiches with blue buns made to resemble Earth. Green is added to represent the landmasses… and so nobody thinks that they’re eating Uranus.

Here is a Tomato Orbiting The Earth

November 25, 2013 by Chris Durso

Try not to panic, but there’s a fresh grape tomato orbiting the Earth. The good news, is that it doesn’t appear to be part of large globular alien race, or some weird government experiment involving farming in space.

No, the tomato traveling at 4.791 miles per second around the Earth will most likely end up in astronaut Koichi Wakata‏‘s salad. Wakata is aboard the International Space Station, and as he puts it, “One fresh tomato for dinner makes us happy in space. It came up with us on Soyuz TMA-11M two weeks ago.”

And if not, I for one welcome our new tomato overlords.

Planets, The Sun and Moon Recreated With Frying Pans

August 15, 2013 by Chris Durso

Pan Planets is a project that recreates a few well-known celestial bodies in ordinary skillets. Brought to us by Italian artists, Giuliano Antonio Lo Re and Matteo Gallinelli — the series uses water, ink, dust, coloring and creative lighting to transform the cookware.

Included in Pan Planets are Earth, Uranus, Mars, Jupiter, the sun and the moon. But a question… Is Uranus non-stick? Or, does Uranus stick? I bet it sticks. See more here.

Celestial Serving Bowls

April 16, 2012 by Chris Durso

If you’re serving freeze-dried pot roast and Tang again, or having a few space geeks over for dinner — create some table space with Celestial Serving Bowls. The durable melamine plates are made to look like the sun, earth and moon, and are also conveniently round.

At an enormous fourteen inches in diameter, they just might be large enough to develop their own gravitational pull. Available at ThinkGeek.
