A little change of pace for this episode of Food Art Friday. Although the medium and method of this week’s artist is a bit different than our last few entries, the creativity and pure awesomeness remain. Enjoy.
Play With My Food is a great site and project by artist Jake Johnston. A self-described animal-friendly foodie and mild-mannered toy collector, Jake combines these two passions to create something that we just don’t see very often — a truly original food blog.
As the name implies, Play With My Food does just that, play with food. But rather than simply making train tracks in mashed potatoes or constructing a pea pyramid, Jake gets his extensive toy collection involved. They not only serve as inspiration for Jake’s vegetarian recipes, but occasionally participate in the food photography.
From a vegetarian bacon dish inspired by and starring the Pigs In Space, to a veggie burger brought to us by Radioactive Man, Jake gives us a brief history of the characters involved, then dives into his meatless recipes. Now if you’ll excuse me, He-Man and I need to check on our quiche. Have a good weekend.

It was my pleasure… The concept of Play With My Food is exactly what we like to cover on the site. Thanks for stopping by, and keep up the awesomeness.
Wow, I’m so flattered… and embarrassed that I didn’t know about yer site. I’ll definitely be bookmarking it, seeing as it’s right up my alley. I think you picked some of my favorite picks and the write-up is grand.
Thanks, Chris!!
