Volkswagen Encourages Faster Shopping With a Skateboard-Powered Cart

February 15, 2011 by Chris Durso

Before they helped us forget Episode I by giving us a tolerable kid Vader, Volkswagen tried to sell cars by encouraging those who ‘enjoy speeding up life a little’.

The slow and ponderous standard-issue shopping cart was given a much needed upgrade by adding a skateboard — facilitating faster shopping and the terrorization of old people.

Of course this was done in Europe as a campaign to sell the Polo GTI. Here in the US, an ad campaign such as this would surely breed a new form of lawyer, specializing in ankle injuries caused by German car manufacturers.
