An innovative Doritos packaging concept by designer Petar Pavlov. Using the triangular chip as inspiration, the concept solves some inherent issues with the standard and antiquated bag packaging. The design actually allows the package to self-close after opening — as seen demonstrated with the prototype below.
Bravo. But this is Doritos we’re talking about. Their current packaging design, adopted from the retina-searing school of design, is quite extreme. Would this minimalist packaging be ‘in-your-face’ enough to compete for your attention in the junk food aisle?
No worries, as Pavlov realizes who he is dealing with, he started to address the aesthetic needs of chip eaters, and has even accepted ideas from anyone with design software. I’m not sure if submissions are still being accepted, as this was all started a while back — nevertheless, information can be found at this Facebook page, and the Doritos Template Pack can be dowloaded here.
But please keep in mind the Doritos design standard… the more garish and visually offensive, the better.
