Food Comes Alive At The Supermarket To Make Shoppers Feel Bad About Eating Them

August 16, 2016 by Chris Durso

To help promote the new R-rated animated film, Sausage Party, creator Seth Rogen placed talking food throughout a supermarket in New York City.

Unsuspecting shoppers are surprised when cantaloupes, loaves of bread and deli meats come alive to question the people’s food choices. The intent, besides to help promote a movie filled with anthropomorphic foods, is to make people feel a little guilty about eating them.

Watch as some shoppers recoil in horror, as some taunt the talking food by eating their unanimated brethren. Please watch.

Comedian Plants Fake Coupons Throughout A Grocery Store Offering Free Hugs and Piggyback Rides

July 29, 2016 by Chris Durso

Coupons that offer five-cents off your laundry detergent, or buy one jar of pickles and get a second one half-off, just ain’t gonna cut it anymore. Comedian Jeff Wysaski feels the same way, and has created coupons that might actually make a difference in our lives.

The unsanctioned coupons were planted throughout a grocery store, offering rewards such as “One Free Hug From Your Cashier,” if you spend $30 or more, or “One Free Piggyback Ride Around The Parking Lot,” if you spend at least $40 on flowers.

Wow, checkout’s gonna be awkward.

Meat and Cheese Packaging That Tells You The Part of The Animal You’re Getting

March 19, 2014 by Chris Durso

When shopping for meat at the supermarket, it’s easy enough to grab whatever the “Manager’s Special” is, and to not pay much attention to exactly what parts you’re buying.

Corella, a small meat and cheese store in Spain, commissioned Fauna to rethink their brand. With fun and education in mind, the minimalist packaging provides a handy diagram of what part of the animal you’ll be buying.

Even the cheeses will make you smarter. Just in case you didn’t know the type of animal it comes from from, and where on its body. Perhaps sometimes it’s best not to know.

Epics Grinds, Ground Meat Sculptures At The Market

October 7, 2013 by Chris Durso

Epic Grinds is a Tumblr blog that documents the meat sculptures of grocery store worker Kieran Gormley. The sculptures’ subjects range from various creatures, to a few pop culture characters — all ready to be brought home and reshaped into an unfortunate meat loaf.

The meaty art is constantly on display at Gormley’s market, Uwajimaya, in Seattle.

Garden Fresh, A Photo Series of Animals in the Supermarket

January 9, 2013 by Chris Durso

Clean up in aisle 2, 3, 5, and 8!! Garden Fresh is a photo series by Agan Harahap, where animals who think they’re people roam the supermarket aisles. And, before you say, “You silly animal, you don’t belong in a supermarket.” There’s a point to the photo series.

From the artist…

Garden Fresh series investigates the shifting boundaries between humans and animals in today’s environment and the complex relationship between art and nature. It is like a fable about a journey undertaken by the animals when they venture into our daily lives. The animals are confronted by a new reality that is in conflict with their natural habits and habitats.
