When Consumer Products Fight Back, A Short Film

What if we didn’t need commercials and Facebook ads to sell us products? And, what if those products could, instead, literally sell themselves?

Product Wars offers a short glimpse into this idyllic turned dystopian future, where consumer products are industrially-engineered to become their own mascot. Keeping in mind humans’ capitalist urges and their ease in discarding stuff that’s no longer of use to them, it should be no surprise that things don’t end well.

Perhaps the gun-wielding apple keeping an eye on a shackled hostage was a spoiler. See it all unfold below.

Watch People Taste Play-Doh For The First Time

play-doh-taste-test

As kids, we always assumed that the “Non-Toxic” claim on a can of Play-Doh was nothing but a dare. However, as seen in the video Edible Sweet Art, there are still grown adults who claim to have never tried to eat the ‘edible’ dough.

Watch these liars feign a surprised reaction, as they try to convince us that this is actually their first time. Or, perhaps eating it as a kid is just an unfortunate memory that they’ve suppressed.

It’s understandable, considering that Play-Doh does tastes like Poseidon’s butthole. Please watch…

The Sound of Taste, A Video of Spice Bags Exploding In Slow-Motion

sound-of-taste

Looking to spice up your morning? A new commercial for Schwartz Flavour Shots contains a beautiful display of exploding spice bags.

And, this is far from just an excuse to blow shit up, as the fireworks are played in slow-motion and synchronized to music — creating what Schwartz describes as a ‘Sonic Flavourscape.’

The mix of black peppercorns, cardamom, turmeric, paprika, cumin seeds, ginger, chilli and coriander also create a beautiful display of color and textures. Now, please watch this video of shit blowing up.

Flatten: A Music Video That Studies The Shape of Flattened Food

Flatten is an experimental video by Dutch artists Hugo de Kok and Kay van Vree. The original intent of Flatten was to study the shapes that some foods make when you squash them. Then came the artists’ idea to synchronize the food-flattening to music, making for a very cool and hypnotizing music video.

Dr. Breakfast, A Bizarre Animated Short Film

Dr. Breakfast is a bizarre animated short by Stephen Neary. It follows the tale of a man who sits down for breakfast, only to have his soul escape from his eyeball. The soul then goes on to roam the earth eating everything in sight, while two deer dress the man and make him dinner.

Although the film might be a bit too surreal to form an actual opinion on, Dr. Breakfast was selected for the 2012 Sundance Film Festival — so we’ll assume it’s good. Enjoy.
