The Spork Gets An Unnecessary Upgrade With The Tritensil

August 11, 2015 by Chris Durso

FM_Spork_012

The spork, already a wonder of engineering and portmanteaus, always leaves room for improvement. Part spoon, part fork, all awesome… the multi-utensil flirts with perfection while polarizing the take-out community.

London-based design firm, Maps, wants to improve on perfection, with the Tritensil. Actually inspired by a combination spoon, fork, and knife — the utensil is designed to fulfill all of your scooping, poking and cutting needs.

The Tritensil is available from Fortnum & Mason — the company originally credited for the spoon/fork/knife combo. It’s also available in bio-plastic or stainless steel, and left and right versions for sporking from both sides.

The problem with all of your other kitchen utensils… They just aren’t inspired enough by toy bricks. The Cooking Blocks Utensil Set is here to change all of that.

The 3-piece set consists of a spatula, large spoon, and slotted pasta spoon. Also included is a brick placeholder for which to snap your awesome new tools against the wall with. And, at only four pieces, any adult can put this kit together – with a little help from the kids, of course.

The Cooking Blocks Utensil Set is new, bricky, and available at The Foodiggity Shop. [$39.99]

Utensil Set Packaged Like A Toy Model Kit

November 1, 2013 by Chris Durso

Remember the fun and glue high you had when assembling plastic toy models? Now, you can have at least half the fun with Special Spoons by Dutch designer Ineke Hans.

Assembled like a set of plastic toy model parts, the utensils can be removed from their holder and used to scoop up, stab, or spread your favorite foodstuffs. Have a good tube of airplane glue handy during lunch for the full effect.

Biodegradable Vegetable Utensils

August 7, 2013 by Chris Durso

graft-1

To help bring attention to the idea of using plant-based materials to make everyday items, product designer Qiyun Deng created Graft. The series includes tableware that resembles various vegetables — acting as a reminder that you’re using a biodegradable utensil made from plants.

Although the series is only a concept, created for Deng’s diploma project, Graft may receive enough attention to get it into mass production.

However, we’re going to need some sort of spork included. May I suggest it resemble a fig, and we call it a “fork?” I’m open to suggestions. See more here.

Unicorn Corn Holders Will Majestically Hold Your Cob In Place

August 7, 2013 by Chris Durso

A unicorn might be able to poop rainbows and produce tears that cure all known ailments — but they’re certainly not too good that they can’t hold our corn.

Unicorn Corn Holders take the majestic animal’s horn — which has, up until now, been for show — and puts it to good use. Guests at your next barbecue will get a kick out of majestically holding their cob.

Each set contains 4 pairs of corn holders. Check them out at The Foodiggity Shop.
