A Restaurant Comes Up With A Brilliant Menu To Deal With Indecisive Children

September 29, 2016 by Chris Durso

Determined children, who know exactly what they want to eat, will usually order a hot dog, chicken tenders, or similar. These children are what’s known as an anomaly. For the other 99.9% of children who “don’t know,” or “don’t care,” there’s now a menu for that.

Front Street Deli, in Altoona, Pennsylvania, will help any kid decide. Their kids’ menu consists of titles inspired by typical child responses, with an included edible counterpart. The “I Don’t Care” is a hot dog with French fries, while an “I’m Not Hungry” is a grilled cheese with French fries.

Now, we just need a menu for couples with items such as, “I Don’t Know, What Do You Want?” and “Are You Gonna Finish That?”

This Restaurant Has A Menu Written In Emojis

July 20, 2016 by Chris Durso

In the near future, words will have no meaning, replaced with the icons that we know as emojis. Realizing that word-challenged patrons will have a hard time ordering their food, London-based pop-up restaurant, The Little Yellow Door, is testing out a menu consisting of emojis.

Patrons are encouraged to order their meals using icons on WhatsApp. Thankfully, most animal-based proteins are accounted for in our emoji keyboard… although we still lack the ability to order waffles [sad face].

Hopefully, reviews of the restaurant will be nothing but happy faces and thumbs up. Smiling brown piles would be bad.

Pizza Hut’s New Menu Will Read Your Mind

December 2, 2014 by Chris Durso

Because decision-making is hard, Pizza Hut wants to make life easier by reading your mind and picking out your pizza toppings for you.

The Hut’s potential new menu system, using a tablet equipped with Tobii eye-sensor technology, will display a series of pizza toppings, form an algorithm based on your eye movements, and then tell you exactly the type of pizza you’d like.

Whether you’d like stuffed crust requires a more thorough psych evaluation. Please watch this…

The Pop-Up Restaurant Menu Takes You Back To Childhood Before You Order

October 28, 2014 by Chris Durso

Boring 2-D restaurant menus are no way to order. And, none of them provide the nostalgia of those pop-up books you had as a kid.

Paper engineer Helen Friel recently designed and constructed a 3-D pop-up menu for the Art Deco Beaufort Bar at London’s Savoy Hotel. Turning the page reveals an in-your-face example of each cocktail offered at the bar.

They become a great way to feel like a kid again… before you start drinking heavily.

Will Letter For Lunch, Artist Creates Hand-Lettered Menus In Exchange For Meals

October 16, 2014 by Chris Durso

We all work for food… however NYC-based artist Lauren Hom cuts out the unnecessary steps of getting handed a check, standing in line at the bank, and then exchanging money for goods.

Hom, creator of Will Letter For Lunch, offers her service as a graphic artist in exchange for meals. The concept is simple… Hom creates handwritten menus for restaurants in New York City, and her payment is whatever she writes on the board.

“Grilled Whole Fish” on the menu? Then you can expect Hom to be dining on said fish shortly. Considering how much a beautifully-lettered menu classes up a joint, this bartering system seems more than fair. Especially if Hom designs a few Happy Hour menus. See how it all works here.
