This Restaurant Has A Menu Written In Emojis

In the near future, words will have no meaning, replaced with the icons that we know as emojis. Realizing that word-challenged patrons will have a hard time ordering their food, London-based pop-up restaurant, The Little Yellow Door, is testing out a menu consisting of emojis.

Patrons are encouraged to order their meals using icons on WhatsApp. Thankfully, most animal-based proteins are accounted for in our emoji keyboard… although we still lack the ability to order waffles [sad face].

Hopefully, reviews of the restaurant will be nothing but happy faces and thumbs up. Smiling brown piles would be bad.

Regardless of how you feel in the morning, there’s always waffles. Rosanna Pansino of Nerdy Nummies is here to show us a range of breakfast emotions with Emoji Waffles.

Inspired by some of our favorite keyboard smiley faces, the waffles are made easily with some Eggos, melted chocolate, and cut-up fruits.

Perhaps, Rosanna’s effort is the first step towards finally getting us a waffle emoji. Now, we wait.

Emojis are currently the best way to express yourself, via your mobile keyboard. But what if some of these handy little graphics came to life and existed in the wild?

Artist and master of minimalism, Peechaya Burroughs, took on Instagram’s recent weekend hashtag project of ‘Emoji In The Wild’, recreating these icons using actual food and making them interactive.

More of Burroughs’ work can be found at her Instagram account. It’s highly recommended.
