Flex Mex, The Hexaflexagon Burrito by Vi Hart

After thoroughly, and quite adorably, explaining the concept of hexaflexagons — mathemusician Vi Hart is back with a follow-up. And she’s hungry.

Where before we had paper and glue for our geometry lesson, Vi now uses a tasty burrito and guacamole to reach her conclusion. That conclusion is a very sophisticated burrito-type treat, and confirmation that we should’ve paid more attention in math class.

How To Make An Interlocking Bagel

Geometric sculptor and breakfast enthusiast, George Hart, brings us The Mathematically Correct Bagel. By strategically cutting the bagel in congruent halves, Hart is able to create two interlocking parts. Besides being super-cool, the math bagel actually provides more surface area for your cream cheese, and you can create a Möbius strip of lox.

Apple Pi

Today, Pi Day, is meant to celebrate math curriculum and to promote math awareness. But we all know that the best thing about 3.14, is the play on words that gives us an excuse to talk about pie. Then there’s the merging of the two, and thus far there has been none better than the Apple Pi by Shannon of a periodic table.

Using the numbers associated with the mathematical constant, Shannon not only adorned the pie crust with them, but created apple numbers to fill the nerdiest pie ever. Happy Pi Day.
