What Came First?, a sculpture by UK artist Kyle Bean, adds some irony to the age-old question. Perhaps the chicken and egg came at the same time, and a hideous breed of shell-covered poultry once roamed the Earth?
Thankfully the two were eventually separated, making bacon and eggs, and chicken shawarmas possible. Thank you evolution!
Apparently invented to combat pesky round eggs from rolling off plates—a mad genius, perhaps psychopath came up with the ‘Egg Cuber’. Stan Pargman set up the Square Egg Co. (seriously) in 1976 to make this contraption that encases a cooked, peeled egg and, after a few minutes, releases it reshaped.
With all the technology that we have access to, couldn’t we just bioengineer hens to produce square eggs so we wouldn’t have to buy novelty items like this on Ebay? Or perhaps that would be like trying to get a square egg through a round hole [~cue rimshot~].
Current versions of Egg Cubers, as well as the original patent can be found at foodiggity’s Facebook page.
