Alien Chestburster Pie and Other Xenomorphic Treats

May 15, 2017 by Chris Durso

photo: Christine McConnell

Artist Christine McConnell is all about creating dessert masterpieces to freak us out. Her latest series is no exception, with confectioneries to promote the release of Alien: Covenant.

The Chestburster Pie is part of the series, complete with edible symbiont bursting through the pie’s strawberry innards. The Xenomorph Cake, modeled after an alien’s head, is so true to form, that it wouldn’t surprise us if cutting into it would cause severe acid burns.

See more below and over at McConnell’s Instagram.

Aliens Tiki Mugs For Your Next Xenomorph-Themed Hawaiian Party

February 28, 2017 by Chris Durso

aliens-tiki

We assume that there’s no such thing as a Rum Runner or a Zombie available to drink in space. However, that doesn’t mean you can’t have an Aliens-themed tiki party.

Aliens Tiki Mugs, by Mondo, are now available for pre-order. The Xenomorph drinkware is available in five colors, hand-glazed, and will hold up to 16 oz. of whatever party drink you can pour into its noggin.

And, when the party’s over and the place is destroyed, you can simply take off and nuke the entire site from orbit… It’s the only way to be sure.

Outer Space Vodka, The Booze Is Out There

October 30, 2015 by Chris Durso

outer-space-vodka

There’s certainly enough fancy vodkas out there to go around, but they’re all so terrestrial. Outer Space Vodka is not of this earth — or, at least that’s what the makers would like you to believe.

The clear spirit’s claim to fame, besides being sold in an alien’s noggin, is that the liquor is filtered through meteorites. Now, we’re not exactly sure how this process helps, but if I get to have a glass alien head around afterwards, sign me up.

Fancy Porcelain Plates Redrawn With Monsters, Robots, and UFOs

March 7, 2014 by Chris Durso

If you’d like to lighten the mood at your next fancy dinner party, you might consider taking a cue from Calamityware by artist Don Moyer.

Using a set of dishware given to him by his great-grandparents as inspiration, Moyer added elements such as giant robots and UFOs to the tranquil willow-patterned themes. Hopefully your stuffy friends have a sense of humor.

Coffee Propaganda, An Educational Animated Short About Coffee

May 9, 2013 by Chris Durso

coffee-propaganda

Learn everything you needed to know about coffee, as adorably as possible, with Coffee Propaganda. The animated short is made to look and sound like a vintage newsreel from an alien planet, reporting on the discovery of the coffee bean.

The film, while extremely cute and educational, does make Earth sound like it’s full of nothing more than blue water and caffeine addicts. Just so you know, aliens… We can stop at anytime. Enjoy.
