What Your Plate of Food Says About You

November 17, 2015 by Chris Durso

Thanksgiving is coming, which means that it’s time to silently judge friends and relatives at the dinner table. Behavioral food scientist, Juliet Boghossian, and Cosmo have provided a fun little way to gauge your table-mate’s personality by how they plate their food.

Do they give equal space to each food item? Then that person is a disciplined pre-planner who doesn’t take on more than they can handle. Piling all of the food into a bowl, is the work of a tireless creative seeking to be unique.

How do you plate? Just, so we can judge.

Food as Rorschach Inkblots

August 16, 2013 by Chris Durso

rorschach

What do you see when you look at these Rorschach patterns of food by Spanish photographer Esther Lobo? There’s no wrong answer here.

In the photo series, appropriately-titled Rorschach, Lobo creates imagery with food similar to the old-school crazy test. As for me, I don’t see anything, they’re just making me hungry. I know I have issues.

Rorschach Dinner Plates

August 17, 2011 by Chris Durso

Although there is no wrong answer, the Rorschach-patterned Psychoplates will give some insight into what your dinner guests are really thinking. The plates are ceramic, 10.5 inches in diameter and dishwasher safe. Or don’t wash them at all — no one will be able to tell.
