Skittles Released White Candies For Pride Month and It Didn’t Go Very Well

Skittles, with only good intentions in mind, has released a series of their candies to help celebrate Pride Month. Relinquishing their various colors, in an effort to give the LGBT community a bit more ownership of the rainbow this month, Skittles created all-white packaging containing all-white candies. Uh-oh.

The campaign… “Only one rainbow matters this pride. Give the rainbow, taste the rainbow.” The problem… most people only see color, and in this case, that color is white. Not to mention that the campaign allows ‘white’ and ‘pride’ to coexist on the same page, and we’ve got ourselves a potential marketing shit-storm.

Regardless of how you view this campaign… I can’t help but think that the real issue, is how to separate and discard the yellow candies now? What do you think of this?
