Classic Paintings Recreated With Food

January 8, 2015 by Chris Durso

Here at Foodiggity, playing with your food is certainly encouraged — especially when it’s used to recreate famous works of art.

Russian food stylist and photographer Tatiana Shkondina is the kind of food-player we like. She creates her own works of food art with famous paintings as her inspiration.

Van Gogh’s Starry Night is recreated deliciously with blueberries and dark rice, while the symmetry of Mondrian is displayed in watermelon, cheese, and yogurt. See more below.

Artist and mother Samantha Lee creates adorable kids’ meals, often including a cartoon or pop culture character. Recently, The King of Pop Michael Jackson was on the menu, with Lee paying homage via onigiri, charcoal noodle, nori, rice, and sesame seeds.

Check it out, it’s a thriller. Hee-Hee!

Adorable Kids’ Meals by Samantha Lee

Here we go again, encouraging you to play with your food. But this series of kids’ meals by Samantha Lee is way too awesome and adorable to pass up.

The meals were originally created as a fun way to get her daughter to eat — even if the poor girl had to bite the heads off of characters such as Snoopy and Batman. The series has since spawned one of the more popular Instagram accounts of its kind, with over 224,000 followers. See more from Lee’s awesome project here.

Alphabet Soup World, Day 31 of Hong Yi’s Month-Long Photo Series

April 15, 2013 by Chris Durso

alphabet-soup-world

If you weren’t already keeping track, artist Hong “Red” Yi began a month-long photo series, 31 Days of Creativity With Food. And after a little more than a month, the project is complete, and she’s thanked her supporters in one of the greatest and most appropriate ways possible — with Alphabet Soup.

If only we communicated more via soup letters, Alpha-Bits and the like, the world might be a better place. Thank you, Red.
