Graffeati: A food graffiti photo project by Arthur Bovino, sets out to prove that New Yorker’s food obsession is not limited to hot spots and food trends, and has spread to the counterculture of street art.
Filmed this past summer, Rockaway Taco documents a day-in-the-life of a surf taco stand in Queens, NY.
Located a block away from Rockaway Beach, the taco stand shares a corner space with an Italian ice stand, coffee shop, organic vegetable stand, and requisite surf shop. The mishmash of businesses work together as a whole to provide a market and refuge for local firefighters, NYPD, surfers, and the occasional crazie.
Appetite: A Reciprocal Relationship Between Food & Design opened on September 14 in New York City. The exhibit at The Cooper Union focuses on how consumers perceive food and the way that design influences it.
“We as consumers are very adept at reading signs, even if subconsciously. We consume things visually before we consume them physically.” says curator Alexander Tochilovsky.
