There’s A Lucky Charms Beer Now

Have you ever tried to enjoy a good beer and wondered to yourself, “This could use some more marbit?” Well, wonder no more, my sweet-toothed friend.

Smartmouth Brewing has unleashed Saturday Morning — an IPA inspired by everyone’s favorite leprechaun-seeking cereal, and brewed with actual Lucky Charms marshmallows. Funny how the oat clusters get the shaft in the brewing process — just like every Saturday morning at breakfast.

Unfortunately, the luckiest of brews has only been made available at Smartmouth’s Norfolk location on draft and in cans. Sorry, Lucky.

Craft Beer Bar Built To Straddle The US-Mexico Border

BrewDog, apparently not a fan of walls, has planned to build a pub on the US-Mexico border. The Bar on the Edge will not only be on the dividing line between countries, but will be placed half in the U.S.A and half in Mexico.

The concept of the bar is to help celebrate the brewery’s Tex-Mex craft beer event at their DogTap taproom — as well as an effort to expand the brewery’s global reach. So, if you’re in the area, head down for a beer… or a cerveza, depending on where you’re standing.

James Watt, co-founder at BrewDog:

“’The Bar on the Edge’ will be set up in the furthest outskirts of the United States, reflecting our ambition to reach every corner of the country as we begin to brew our beers on US soil. Beer has always been a unifying factor between cultures – and our business was born from collaboration and an inclusive approach – so we thought it would be fun to place the bar a few feet further to actually cross the US-Mexico border too.”

“We will request official permission from the local authorities to put it there and adhere to any red tape stuff, but I guess it would make it more difficult to build a wall if there’s a BrewDog bar in the way. We’re planning on putting the bar there anyway until someone tells us to move it.”

Pork Roll Beer Exists

pork-roll-beer

For those not from New Jersey, I’ll break it down for you… New Jersey’s greatest contribution to America’s culinary landscape is a large tubular vessel of mystery meat. And, whether it’s called Taylor Ham or Pork Roll, depends on whether you reside in North or South Jersey.

Flying Fish Brewing Co. thought they’d show some State pride and, since their headquarters are south of the Raritan Bridge, created something called Pork Roll Porter. The 7.5% ABV brew is part of Flying Fish’s “Exit” series, in which a beer will pay tribute to an exit number off the New Jersey Turnpike… again, a Jersey thing.

Actual pork roll/taylor ham is used in the brew process to create aromas of cocoa and hints of chocolate, maple, toasted nuts and spice. It sounds like it would pair perfectly with a Taylor ham, egg and cheese on a roll… salt, pepper, ketchup. Sorry, Northerner here.

Bernie Sanders Beer Is Easy-Drinking, Forward-Thinking

It is your right as an American to vote in this year’s upcoming election. It’s also your right to choose which and how many beers you have at any given time. Thankfully, Bernie Weisse is here, and it wants your vote.

Brought to us by Zero Gravity Craft Brewery, the beer is inspired by Democratic POTUS candidate, Bernie Sanders. It’s a tart German Wheat Ale that clocks in at 3.2% ABV and 5 IBU. So, the beer is sessionable, mild, and just a tad bitter… Just like Bernie.
