This week, May 17th to be exact, marks the 2,557th birthday of the enlightened one, Buddha. The celebration takes place at The Lantern Festival in Seoul, South Korea — celebrated on the night of May’s full moon.

Japanese artist Koshi Kawachi looks to change all of that, with a series of 107 Buddhas carved from a Cheetos-like Japanese snack called umai-bou. Officially-titled Tasty Buddha, the puffy snack series was part of Umai-botoke: The Snack Age — an exhibit of these and other junk food art.
