Foodiggity is proud to present a new feature that we like to call ‘A Dose of Ephemera’. It will pay tribute to vintage advertising, art, products, or concepts that hold a special place in our psyche. We will of course be focusing on food ephemera ’cause that’s how we roll… Enjoy.
First up are the ephemeral-style paintings of Nouar. Her anthropomorphic food images are reminiscent of mid-nineteenth century illustration and post-WWII era animation and advertising art.

Some of Nouar’s work is featured in the latest issue of Bang Art magazine, as well as an interview with the artist. She also currently has an exhibit in Rome titled ‘What a Wonderful Food World‘.
Although we find Nouar’s paintings brilliant—there is something about food with eyes that freaks us out. It is why we chop the heads off our chickens and order our branzino ‘senza la testa’.

Isn’t this most like fauxphemera?
