The Hamdog, A Hamburger Hot Dog Hybrid Is Here, And Life Will Never Be The Same

September 21, 2016 by Chris Durso

What a time to be alive. No longer will we have to decide between a hamburger or hot dog, or take up valuable real estate on our plate for both. The Hamdog is here.

The hamburger-hot dog bun is the invention of genius and legend of our time, Mark Murray. Once laughed at by the entrepreneurs on Shark Tank Australia, it is Murray who gets the last laugh, as the Hamdog is now patented.

Find out more about getting your hands on one, and licensing, on Hamdog’s Facebook.

Cookie Fries Will Fulfill All of Your Dipping Needs

September 20, 2016 by Chris Durso

Cookies demand to be dipped in something. And, at the time of this writing, there is no more dippable food item than the french fry.

Cookie Fries are the food hybrid that we didn’t know we needed. Offered by State Fair Treats, a Texas-based restaurant filled with state-fair inspired foods, the portable dessert is available in chocolate chip or with sprinkles, and can be dipped in chocolate or strawberry sauce.

Boring round cookies can’t do that. Actually, they can, but fries.

Artist Creates A Giant Monument of His Grocery List

September 20, 2016 by Chris Durso

Art critic, Clive Bell, once theorized that art is subjective, and that the combination of lines and colors creates an aesthetic emotion unique to each person. In the case of MEMORIAL by artist David Shrigley, that emotion is apparently the fear of forgetting something at the supermarket.

MEMORIAL is a seventeen-foot tall stone monument that consists of nothing more than a list of grocery items. All the important stuff is there… peanut butter, ketchup, eggs, bread, etc. The monolith was erected by Public Art Fund, and is currently on display in New York City’s Central Park. Monument to self… buy bread.

Getting a slice of cake or pie safely onto your plate is a tough job, so you’ll want the proper equipment. The CakeDozer is up for the task.

The handy little cake server will lift your slice, much like an ordinary server. However, you’ll now be equipped with a tiny bulldozer that’ll slide your dessert exactly where it needs to go. Check it out here.

Ribby McRibface Is A Worthy Alternative to McDonald’s McRib Sandwich

September 19, 2016 by Chris Durso

The McDonald’s McRib will soon rear its ugly sauce-laden head, to remind us of the bad choices that we made as children. Now that we’re adults, we have to wonder why a better and less horrifying version of the McRib hasn’t been created. The Food Lab’s J. Kenji López-Alt is on it.

The Ribby McRibface is the adult version of the McRib that we’ve secretly pined for. López-Alt, fueled by nostalgia and mad culinary skills, creates a gourmet version of the BBQ pork sandwich using actual ribs. Spoiler… the McRib does not.

Then, not content with his sandwich’s “McRibbiness,” López-Alt creates a second version with actual ground pork… something else the McRib probably never did. Recipe and technique here.
