This Is Now The World’s Most Expensive Sushi

Here at foodiggity, we recently reported on what was the World’s Most Expensive Sushi. Chef Angelito Araneta, Jr., the sushi’s creator, has since contacted us about his new and even more expensive roll. Our previous post, although a mere ten days old, was now dated.

Behold, the new World’s Most Expensive Sushi, for now.

Ingredients according to Chef’s Facebook page include:

12-yr-old Italian balsamic vinegar, Japanese rice, 70-yr-old virgin water, Muscovado sugar, Norwegian pink salmon, cucumber, mango, foie gras, sea cucumber (smoked then pickled and steamed ’til tender sticky), genuine crabmeat, wild saffron, mayonnaise with butter, 12 local Palawan pearls and 4 (.20ct) African diamonds of VVS clarity.

Price: Php 198,999.00.

We are not sure what that amounts to in US dollars or the Euro, but it sure looks like more than a used Toyota, or a month’s rent on your studio apartment.

    its made for fame not for satisfaction. i mean who would eat diamonds and pearl? it breaks even the simplest rule of the culinary world “placing edible garnish” why don’t this talented chefs create a food that’s expensive and yet you can eat everything.. it’s funny how they get too much attention with that dish. =D

    i ate at Karat-Chef punta-fuego but not this expensive, they also have golden pastries for just under 200USDollars. i got a chocolate cake for 5,000 pesos or approx 100USD. that was satisfying; me and my girl ate it. he said the chocolates used in it came from 12 different countries.
