Deformed Mr. Potato Head Wants To Help Reduce Food Waste

wonky-potato-head

We all know Mr.Potato Head, with his perfectly-rounded noggin and an arsenal of plastic accessories. But, what if our favorite toy potato were malformed to help fit in with other unfortunate produce?

Hasbro recently teamed up with UK-based grocery chain, ASDA, to create a Wonky Mr. Potato Head. The intent… To help reduce food waste, by reminding grocery shoppers that produce that may not be pleasing to the eye, could be just as useful as their prettier counterparts.

The adorably-wonky Potato Head is available at auction, with proceeds going to charity. And, if you miss out on a deformed Mr. Potato Head, you can simply stick some eyes on those banged-up zucchini and tomatoes that nobody else wants.

There’s nothing quite like when your food stares back at you. Artists Emily Dryden and Zahydé Pietri have created a fun series of portraits made from various forms of produce.

Using anything from watermelon, blueberries, mushrooms and strawberries — the portraits appear to draw inspiration from the works of Giuseppe Arcimboldo. And, yes… they are judging your current food choices.

the-cut

The next time we’re doing something as mundane as slicing fruits and vegetables, perhaps we should take a second to appreciate what’s going on inside.

Photographer Carl Pendle is not only aware of the beauty hidden in the cross-sections of fruits and vegetables, but he created The Cut — a stop-motion film that shows the process of exposing fruit’s and vegetable’s innards, set to a sick beat. Check it out, and perhaps it’ll to get you in the mood to slice stuff.

Watch This Dog Balance 100 Different Fruits and Vegetables on His Head

dog-balancing

Maymo The Lemon Beagle has talent. That talent is having enormous patience with his owner, as 100 fruits and vegetables are continuously placed on Maymo’s head to balance.

The stoic puppy appears to have the whole balancing act down too — whether it’s lettuce, asparagus, or even half a watermelon. Although, after a few seconds of produce-on-head, Maymo says, “Enough, now gimme my treat, human.” Please watch.
