How A Few Famous Artists Would Plate Thanksgiving Dinner

November 19, 2015 by Chris Durso

We’d like to think that artists, regardless of their level of fame or cultural status, would still play with their food. Artist, Hannah Rothstein, showed us what this might look like last year, and now she’s back for seconds.

Thanksgiving Special: Seconds focuses on a few more modern artists plating Thanksgiving dinner — including Keith Haring, Gustav Klimt, Joan Miro and Salvador Dali.

Check out more of the project below. There are also prints of each available, with a portion of the proceeds donated to the SF Food Bank to help feed families in need this Thanksgiving.

Finally, A Donut Plate With A Hole In It

July 14, 2015 by Chris Durso

The problem with ordinary round plates, is that they don’t account for the hole in your donut. Although, nobody can confirm why we’d need a hole in a plate, these Donut Plates seem very necessary.

Brought to us by Etsy shop, Yellow Tree Store, the ceramic plates are handmade to perfectly fit your circular breakfast. Sure, you could use them for a bagel too. But then there’d be no sprinkles to collect in the plate-hole.

Food Faces Made From Restaurant Meals

May 15, 2014 by Chris Durso

Pasture

You play with your food… It’s OK, you’re amongst friends. Noah Scalin also wants you to know that it’s going to be alright, and has created a series of food faces.

Commissioned by Broad Appetit — a food and art festival in Richmond, Virginia — Scalin was asked to visit eight local restaurants and create the faces with whatever he was served.

So use the series as inspiration for your next table art… We encourage making faces at the table.

The Go Plate For One-Armed Partying

August 8, 2012 by Chris Durso

Since evolution has not yet provided us a third arm, things like the Go Plate are necessary. Designed to contain your eats and drink in one hand while you find a seat — the plate-to-go will fit snugly over any bottle, can, or drinking cup. Just resist the urge to take a drink while the plate is attached.

Available in seven colors, including the greatest of all colors — clear.
