The Greatest Food Culture Site Ever*
Red Hongyi, who’s always eager to find a way to incorporate food into her artwork, has recently created a mural for Australian-based Five Plus Smoothie.
However, rather than using food as the medium, Red is using food as her tool. Armed with a celery stick as a paintbrush and several varieties of green paint, Red incorporates a pointillist technique, dabbing on one celery edge at a time.
Spoiler… she didn’t paint a giant celery stick. Please watch.

Artist Hikaru Cho, who we’ve covered previously, is still toying with our minds. She’s back, adding to her series of foods that are not as they seem.
By painting the outside of various foodstuffs, it’s not until we get to see the food’s actual innards, that we realize we’ve been messed with. Check out more below and over at Cho’s website here.

Artist Jacqueline Poirier, aka, the crazy plate lady, is certainly crazy about plates. Especially when it comes to painting realistic meals on them and making us hungry.
Please do not try to eat them, because the meals are, after all, ceramic and paint… yuk! However it is pretty awesome art.., yum! See more of Poirier’s work below and over at Instagram.

Food artist Maria A. Aristidou, who we last saw making art with coffee, is back with a few cake masterpieces.
Her tiered-desserts include Van Gogh’s Starry Night, Munch’s Scream, and Picasso’s Girl Before Mirror. It’d be a shame to cut into one of these… that is until we remember there’s cake inside. Check out more of Aristidou’s work here.

It’s probably on everyone’s wish list… To randomly stumble upon giant gummy bears that we can interact with.
Artist Leon Kerr has attempted to make it so, with Gummy Bear Street Art. Created for the Malta Street Art Festival, the gummies are brilliantly painted to scale, so that they’re best viewed from above. Do not try to eat.
