The merging of the two most polarizing fast food items in history was inevitable. And although the McRib Double Down seen here only borrows the concept of the KFC Double Down, the idea for an actual mashup has been set forth.

Now for a limited time, the ultimate culinary monstrosity is only two stops in the mall food court away.

Is Tracy Jordan Responsible for the KFC Double Down?

In this episode of 30 Rock from Season 1 — while trying to promote his invention, The Meat Machine — Tracy Jordan may have unintentionally given KFC the idea for The KFC Double Down.

The Meat Machine’s slogan ‘Meat is the New Bread’ appears to come directly out of the Double Down’s own marketing strategy. However this episode of 30 Rock precedes KFC’s campaign by a good 3 years.

KFC even adopted the Dr. Spaceman theory that choosing more meat over bread was a healthier option. Perhaps KFC has a few graduates of Ho Chi Minh City School of Medicine on the payroll as well.
