The Only Thing Better Than Pizza Is Pizza on Pizza

June 1, 2015 by Chris Durso

pizza-on-pizza

What topping do you prefer on your pizza? If you said anything other than “more pizza,” your opinion on the matter is now silly and antiquated.

Vinnie’s Pizzeria in Brooklyn is responsible for what is now the only reasonable topping on pizza… more smaller slices. The result… the sound of pepperoni’s and green pepper’s death throes, and a mind-melting pizza inception.

Fictional Hipster Restaurant Names, Illustrated

January 9, 2015 by Chris Durso

Hawthorne & Cleaver

If you’re unfamiliar with the restaurant-naming convention inspired by hipsters, I’ll break it down for you. It’s pretentious, tired, and there are many vintage tools and ampersands involved.

Brewmaster at Brooklyn Brewery, Garrett Oliver, having the benefit of experience and geographic location to make such observations, has been having a little fun with the hipster-naming trend. The best part, besides the hipster-bashing, is how easy it is to use this branding-technique with whatever you may have laying around the house.

Try it with a few random items you have around and send a pic and name over. The best one will receive a vintage cleaver and a year’s supply of mustache wax.*

Eat These Star Wars Donuts You Will

May 6, 2014 by Chris Durso

star-wars-donuts

Brooklyn-based Dun-Well Doughnuts wants in on the recent Star Wars hysteria, and has created an awesome series of Star Wars-inspired vegan donuts.

From the the pointy-earred Yoda donut, to Leia Buns and the Death Star, the baked goods are prepared fresh every day by their baker/bounty hunter Boba Fett. Or, at least we’d like to think that they’re all being made by him.

The Cragel, A Bagel and Croissant Hybrid

January 16, 2014 by Chris Durso

cragel2014

While the Cronut is still causing mile-long lines in New York City, the knock-offs and other franken-croissants were sure to follow.

Please, help us welcome The Cragel to the hybrid treat madness. Created by The Bagel Store in Williamsburg, Brooklyn — the Cragel is equal parts bagel and croissant.

Stop by and get one before the Brooklyn hipsters eat them all. Or, have they already abandoned them because they’ve become too popular?

A Superhero Beer, Just In Time For New York Comic Con

September 5, 2013 by Chris Durso

superhero-beer

Have no fear… A superhero-themed beer is here. Brought to us by Brooklyn Brewery and New York Comic Con organizer, ReedPOP, The Brooklyn Defender is back to “strike fear into the heart of those who would forget the virtues of true beer.”

We would’ve also accepted, “The Brooklyn Defender is back to stop the flow of PBR into his borough, with a beer made from the tears of hipsters.” Actually, Brooklyn Defender is an American Black Ale, and will make its debut at a release party at Brooklyn Brewery on September 21st. No hipsters were harmed in making it.
