Bring It On, Summer, There’s Popsicles That Don’t Melt Now

What a time to be alive. Someone’s figured out how to make popsicles that don’t melt.

Although, summer is drawing to a close, food artists Bompas & Parr have created the Non-melting Ice Lolly. What is this frozen sorcery you ask? The popsicles are made with a pykrete-inspired substance. Pykrete, in its traditional form, is a sawdust-based ice that has a very slow melting rate.

Bombas & Parr’s version replaces the wood with edible fruit fibers. The result is a popsicle that you can finally take your time with. Bring it, Sun!

The Non-melting Ice Lolly, unfortunately, has yet to be mass-produced. They were only available for a very limited time at The British Museum of Food.

I Wanna Swing From The Pickle Chandelier

GherkinChandelier

Pickles… usually nothing more than a sandwich or burger enhancer, is actually an excellent conductor of electricity. Who knew?

So, it was only a matter of time before somebody turned several pickles into a viable light source. That somebody are food artists, Sam Bompas and Harry Parr, who brings us the Gherkin Chandelier.

Taking advantage of the pickles’ high acidity and translucence, Bompas and Parr sent some electric current through them, turning the pickles into little oblong light bulbs.

The result… a chandelier worthy to hang over any dining room table. As long as you don’t mind minimal light and the smell of burning gherkins.

Unsuspecting moviegoers in London were given an enlightening treat while watching The World’s End.

Bakers/candy artists/mad scientists Bompas & Parr had gotten to the viewers’ Cornetto cones beforehand and made them glow.

Obviously not a finicky bunch and up for anything, the moviegoers dove in, creating a veritable light show throughout the theater and on their tongues.
