Cranberry Bog Wakeboarding

December 17, 2012 by Chris Durso

A few things that can be learned from this blog entry… The process of harvesting cranberries is actually pretty cool. And, Red Bull can be rather creative at coming up with ways to promote their energy drink — in this case, their new cranberry version.

So recently, Red Bull took a few of our finest wakeskaters and pulled them through a harvested cranberry bog, filming the process in HD. The results are nothing short of pure awesome.

Fruit Formed Into Real Juice Boxes

May 17, 2012 by Chris Durso

To help reinforce that their juice boxes are “100% Juice,” Brazilian-based Camp Nectar created versions of their packaging out of actual fruit. Molds were created and placed on fruit trees, allowing the fruit to be molded into a box shape — logo and straw included.

Note: Turning the sound off of this video helps.

Food Will Win The War, Disney’s World War II Propaganda Film

December 19, 2011 by Chris Durso

When they weren’t creating timeless classics or animated acid trips, Disney took full advantage of having America’s attention in the 40s, by making war propaganda films. Created in 1942, Food Will Win The War attempts to make US citizens feel warm and fuzzy during wartime, by using US agriculture as a measure of the country’s power.

However, the film occasionally derails with highly-exaggerated statistics, images of spaghetti sweaters covering the earth, and giant ears of corn hanging over Hitler’s head. See for yourself.

Play FarmVille, With a Real Farm

May 5, 2011 by Chris Durso

MyFarm is kind of like FarmVille, but for reals. A real life farm — Wimpole Estate in Cambridgeshire, U.K. — will give wannabe farmers the opportunity to vote on everything from what crops to grow to what livestock to nourish, all online. But that sense of realism comes at a price — about $48.

Now if you decide to annoy your Facebook friends with life on the ‘farm’, perhaps they’ll be more tolerant knowing that there is an actual flesh and blood cow or real corn involved. But then again, they usually don’t care about pictures of your real kids either. Happy farming!

Super Pig, Bioengineered to Produce Eco-Friendly Waste

April 7, 2010 by Chris Durso

'Superpig' by Nico4blood / Copyright Nico4blood

Production has recently been approved in Canada for a genetically engineered pig that will produce a more eco-friendly waste—opposed to the sulfur-ridden, earth-hating fecal matter and urine that the pigs produce now.

But it is not the wonderful, magical animal’s fault. Domestic pigs can’t help but produce exorbitant amounts of sulfur due to their inferior diets of corn and grain which are partially indigestible by Porky.
