PBR Flowers

August 17, 2011 by Chris Durso

Urban planters, when used correctly, can help inject some nature into a city street. But when unattended or not maintained, the planters only perpetuate the concept of urban neglect. Enter Outside the Planter Boxes — a Toronto-based initiative to help return some faux nature to the city’s streets.

Pabst Blue Ribbon Flowers were only part of the artist-driven movement. Karen Abel used a few discarded PBR boxes, created an extremely resourceful piece of art, and helped remind us that one white trash’s trash is another man’s art.
