Famous Works of Art Recreated With Hot Dogs and Other Deli Meats

Sausage In Art is a clever and very meaty project by photographer Karsten Wegener, designer Silke Baltruschat and food stylist Raik Holst. The series, which recreates famous works of art, does it using the medium of deli meats.

Whether it’s Koon’s “Balloon Dog” rendered in hot dog, or Hirst’s dot series replaced with rows of pork-based cold cuts — the series will give you a new appreciation of modern art. Just pass the mustard.

The Jack Daniel’s Label, Decoded

JD-label

Have you ever wondered what all that stuff on the iconic Jack Daniel’s label means? Or, do you simply not care and just want to drinky? If you answered yes to the first question, Cool Material has decoded each element on the JD label so you don’t have to.

For example, and much to this editor’s surprise, the “No. 7” on the label is actually shrouded in mystery, and not necessarily the number of shots it takes to become a violent, slurring lunatic. Get your whiskey education here.

The ‘Merica Burger Has Some Bacon In It

2013-07-15-baconmain

In case you haven’t heard… Regular cheeseburgers just aren’t American enough anymore. In fact, if you don’t place at least one slice of bacon on your burger, you could be labeled a communist. True story.

The ‘Merica Burger, by Slater’s 50/50 in San Diego, is here to help make you feel like a patriot, with bacon involved in every component. It includes an all-bacon patty, bacon cheese, and a bun soaked in bacon grease. U-S-A!!

Street Art Featuring Potatoes Wearing Pink Sunglasses

4

Potatoes wearing sunglasses… Now we’ve seen everything. But these aren’t your ordinary spuds in pink Ray-Ban knock-offs — it’s a series of street art. Brought to us naturally by an artist named Peter Pink, the shaded taters can be seen throughout Berlin.

With Pink’s art usually focused on the issue of obesity and fast food, the installations can sometimes be found protesting outside of a McDonald’s, pink picket signs and all. See more here.
