Lovely, by Catherine Konopleva, uses delicious irony to call attention to cruelty to animals. Using actual pig parts to get the point across, the tagline of the piece reads, ‘One pig was hurt while making this lovely image of a pig’.
According to the artist…
This work was obtained by the help of cut meat and dedicated to cruel and senseless killings of animals which often is not neseccary [sic]. Human beings have a double standart [sic], we are touched by an image of a small piglet but in a shop we see the same piglet only as young pork. Do we understand that we really eat dead pig not pork?
So if you’re scoring at home… eating pork is bad. Using a pig for a questionable art piece, misguided activism, and an excuse to spew nonsensical art babble… completely acceptable.
