The Greatest Diners in Television History and Their Yelp Reviews

January 23, 2013 by Chris Durso

seinfeld_monks

When some of our favorite television shows weren’t taking place at the main character’s home, high school, or other random set — scenes would often unfold at their favorite eating establishment. Whether the actors are sitting comfortably in their favorite booth, or actually work there, the restaurant setting gives the viewer a feeling of comfort — as if we’re actually sitting with, or being waited on by members of the cast.

So that brings us to the greatest of these fictional eateries. And, although they mostly exist in the alternate reality of television, it begs the question of whether we would frequent them if they were real. Also worth noting, is that if we pretend for a second that these diners did exist, then Yelp — which is unfortunately real — would certainly have something to say about them. Enjoy.

Foodiggity’s Summer Gift Guide

June 21, 2012 by Chris Durso

Summer is upon us. And, since there are no major holidays coming up that involve gift exchange — the best excuse we have to buy new stuff, is to help make the heat less annoying.

Luckily, there are a few items over at the Foodiggity Shop to help make the summer more tolerable, and will add some flair to your next backyard BBQ. Check ’em out, and be cool.

Crayums Ketchup and Mustard

Get creative with your condiments. Crayums are designed to encourage playing with your food, and will be a big hit at the next BBQ. Draw some serious art on your summer eats, and take a break from the traditional straight lines of mustard and uninspired dollops of ketchup. [Crayums, $12]

Foodiggity-Approved T-shirts

The summer can be brutal. And the last thing that we need to deal with are sleeves. The t-shirts at The Foodiggity Shop are designed for extreme temperatures — not a full sleeve in sight, and made from breathable cotton. As a bonus, you can use the graphic tees to show some food love while you stay cool. [T-shirts, $10 until the end of summer]

Novelty Ice Cubes

Whether you’d like to cheer up an ornery drink, or you prefer a beverage with brains — a few of our ice cube trays are here to help. Have an Ice Day will help create some smiley faces, while Brain Freeze will help mold a frozen head organ to drop into your summer drink of choice. [Have an Ice Day, Brain Freeze, $8]

Knuckle Pounder Meat Tenderizer

Nothing says summer like some serious meat consumption. But those cheap cuts that you buy for barbecuing need a serious beating. The Knuckle Pounder Meat Tenderizer will help soften up that steak, or flatten a few cutlets for perfect grilling. [Knuckle Pounder, $12]

Unicorn Corn Holders

Where there’s a backyard BBQ, there will surely be an endless supply of corn on the cob. So why not make that corn as majestic as possible with Unicorn Corn Holders? The magical animal’s horn can finally be put to good use, and will encourage your guests to help polish off the five extra pounds of corn that you bought. [Unicorn Corn Holders, $8]

Cereal Monsters: The Good, The Bad and The Mummy

May 11, 2012 by Chris Durso

Cereal Monsters by Glen Brogan

Cereal monsters, unlike the classic horror film characters that they’re based on, are anything but scary. And instead of classic films, the mascots with adorably punny names were relegated to shilling for General Mills during Saturday morning cartoon commercials.

But what some may not realize, is that there has been five monster-themed cereals, spanning over four decades. Some were successful, and remain in cereal aisles to this day, and some were Fruit Brute. Foodiggity investigates the backstory behind each monster cereal, why Franken Berry and Count Chocula rule, Boo Berry’s unexplainable success as a blue food item, and the failure of two oft-forgotten additions to the line-up.
