This Artist Reinvents The Starbucks Mermaid On Each Of His Coffee Cups

What is it about the Starbucks coffee cup that inspires art? Is it the minimalist design? The unmistakable and perfectly-executed mermaid logo? Or, is it just the caffeine contained within that gets the creative juices flowing?

Either way, the cups have provided some of the best food art we’ve seen here. And, the work of South Korean artist, Soo Min Kim, is no exception. Using the Starbucks cup as canvas, Kim uses the mermaid as a starting point and rethinks the cup’s environment around her face.

The coffee mascot, by the hand of Kim, then becomes The Beatles, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man — or made to look as though she’s simply living amongst us humans. See more below and over at Instagram.

Fast Food Mascots Reimagined As Anime Characters

Burger King via Ozumii Wizard

The problem with fast food mascots, besides ruling over bogus sovereignties and being a creepy clown, is that they aren’t very action-packed.

Illustrator, Ozumii Wizard, wants to change all of that, by reimagining fast food mascots as anime characters. By adapting the anime drawing style, the once non-threatening Burger King, Ronald McDonald and Wendy’s — look ready for battle. Hopefully that battle is against childhood obesity and coulrophobia.

Starbucks Dragon Frappuccino Is Here To Slay The Unicorn

Just what we need to end the Unicorn Frappuccino — hopefully by lighting it on fire and watching it turn to ash. The Dragon Frappuccino is our new gaudy blender drink, that should start filling up our Instagram feeds any second.

Created by a few Starbucks baristas, it’s a “green tea frap with vanilla bean powder and some berry cup swirl,” borrowing a few leftover ingredients from the now extinct Unicorn Frapp.

We’re not sure exactly where the Dragon Frapp might be available but, if interested, keep an eye out around Starbucks for scorched earth, or angry treasure-seeking dwarves.

The Starbucks Unicorn Frappuccino Was Inevitable

unicorn frappuccino

If you’ve ever wished for a gaudy, unicorn-themed coffee beverage, your misguided prayers have finally been answered. Starbucks will soon release the Unicorn Frappuccino.

The very pink beverage, according to Starbucks, is “blended crème is made with a sweet dusting of pink powder, blended into a crème Frappuccino with mango syrup and layered with a pleasantly sour blue drizzle. It is finished with vanilla whipped cream and a sprinkle of sweet pink and sour blue powder topping.”

The majestic blended beverage will be available throughout US, Canadian, and Mexican Starbucks. However, the magic will only last from April 19th to the 23rd.
