The Tomatan, A Robot That Will Feed You Tomatoes While You Run Because Japan

February 24, 2015 by Chris Durso

tomatan

Apparently, Japanese runners like to eat tomatoes on-the-go to provide nourishment. And, because this is Japan and all, they’ve recently unveiled the most WTF-way-possible to do so.

Enter, The Tomatan… A robot that sits on a runner’s shoulders, that will dispense a juicy tomato directly to its human’s mouth on command.

The tomato robot was recently unveiled as a marketing promotion for food company Kagome, and not necessarily to encourage you to stand out at your next 5K fun-run. Please watch this.

Oreo Separating Robot

March 11, 2013 by Chris Durso

When it comes to separating Oreos… Why should puny humans have all the fun? For the final installment of Nabiscos’ Oreo separator campaign, they went robotic, using HERB the robot to do the honors.

After some initial failed attempts, a few eggheads at Carnegie Mellon finally get HERB to do what he was programmed for. It’s also good to know that the scientists will probably be the first to go when HERB finally decides to destroy us all.

Burritob0t, A 3D Burrito Printer

June 15, 2012 by Chris Durso

The Burritob0t, a 3D printer of sorts, is here to help fulfill all of your Tex-Mex desires. No longer will we be burdened with filling and rolling up our own burritos, or ordering the guy at Chipotle to do so.

Created by New York University ITP grad student Marko Manriquez, the prototype and its function are meant to help bring attention to the complexity of the seemingly simple burrito. And, rather than cartridges filled with cyan, magenta, and black — the Burritob0t’s contain crema, guac, and choice of salsa. Pantone fillings cost extra.

The Cup Noodle Transformer

November 29, 2011 by Chris Durso

To help celebrate its 40th Anniversary and for feeding broke coeds for decades, Cup Noodle maker Nissin created the Robo Cup Noodle Timer. The robot disguised as a cup of noodles, is not only a certified-awesome transformer, but comes with a 3-minute timer to let you know when your instant ramen is ready.
